Turkish scrap surges on fresh US booking
A fresh Turkish scrap booking from the US over the weekend has seen prices surge.
A mill in northern Turkey booked a scrap cargo from the US at $440/tonne for shredded scrap and $445/t cfr Turkey for bonus grade scrap. Although the cargo does not contain HMS 1&2 80:20, the equivalent price for this grade would correspond to $430/t cfr, Kallanish notes.
The previous US-origin scrap was booked at $418/t cfr for HMS 1&2 80:20 at the beginning of last week.
