Turkish scrap imports soar in first half
Turkish scrap imports continued their rise in June. They increased 32.9% on-year to 2.04 million tonnes. They also rose from May imports of 2.02mt, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish.
Over 95%, or 1.95mt, of the June imports were obsolete scrap. The US was the main supplier at 276,819t, down 3% on-year. The Netherlands followed with 219,149t, up 16% on-year. Canada increased its supplies significantly to 184,640t in June …
