Turkish December scrap imports soar, 2019 intake slumps

Turkish scrap imports increased significantly in December, by 25% year-on-year to 2.04 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. Their average buying price, however, decreased to $250/tonne versus $336/t in December 2018. Over 99%, or 2mt, of the December imports were obsolete scrap.
