Turkey imports another huge scrap tonnage in August
Turkish scrap imports increased further in August, following their mammoth July rise. They rose 28.4% on-year to 1.91 million tonnes. They were, however, down from 2.16mt in July, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish.
Over 97%, or 1.86mt, of the August imports were obsolete scrap. The USA was the main supplier at 371,841t, up 27.8% on-year. The Netherlands followed, doubling its supply to 321,526t. Russia delivered 199,877t…
