Turkish scrap imports recover in March
Turkish scrap imports ended their downward trend in March. They rose 13.3% on-year to 2.346 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. They were also up from 1.364mt in January and 1.231mt in February 2023.
Over 99%, or 2.336mt, of the March imports were obsolete scrap. The average price of this scrap was $426/tonne, versus $485/t in March 2022 and $365/t in February 2023.
