Turkish scrap imports rebound, semis sourced from Oman
Turkish scrap imports rose 7% on-year in April to 2.02 million tonnes, the first monthly increase since August 2018, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. Their average value was $326.7/tonne versus $359.1/t in April 2018.
Over 99.5%, or 2.01mt of the April imports were obsolete scrap. The UK supplied 339,929t, up 33%, but intake from the US slumped -30% to 316,652t. The Netherlands and Russia supplied 293,715t and 2…
