Turkish scrap imports increase, billet slumps in September

After a prolonged decreasing trend, Turkish scrap imports finally increased by 39% on-year to 1.71 million tonnes in September, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. Average buying price was $296/tonne versus $345/t in September 2018. Over 99%, or 1.7mt, of the September imports were obsolete scrap.
