Turkish scrap imports increase in June
Turkey's scrap imports grew 33.3% year-on-year to 1.95 million tonnes in June as supplies from the US and the Netherlands surged. The total average value/tonne of these imports declined to $259/tonne from $272/t a year ago, Kallanish calculates from the latest Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
The increase in imports follows a flat May, when a surge in intake from Russia compensated for a drop in exports from the US.
