Turkish scrap imports drop on lower UK supply
Turkish scrap imports inched down -4% on-year in July to 1.83 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. Their average value was $308/tonne versus $352/t in July 2018.
Over 99%, or 1.82mt, of the July imports were obsolete scrap. The US was the main supplier with 336,448t, more than double the tonnage a year earlier, while intake from Russia rose 2% to 270,963t. Belgium, the UK and the Netherlands supplied…
