Turkish scrap imports drop again despite Venezuela-origin surge
Turkish scrap imports fell for a consecutive month in March, by 7% on-year to 2.07 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish.
Over 97%, or 2.02mt, of the March imports were obsolete scrap. The average price of this scrap was $485/tonne versus $431/t in March 2021. The US supplied a whopping 511,572t of this scrap in one month, comfortably more than double on-year. Belgium supplied 216,582t, up 23% on-year. Venezu…
