Lithuania becomes major Turkish scrap supplier in July
Turkish scrap imports continued their long-term rise in July. They increased 0.18% on-year to 2.4 million tonnes. They also rose from June imports of 2.04mt, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish.
Over 96%, or 2.33mt, of the July imports were obsolete scrap. The Netherlands was the main supplier at 369,809t, up 71.9% on-year. Russia followed with 232,971t, as suppliers scrambled to ship material before the export duty increa…
