Turkish scrap imports continue decline in August

Following their July slump, Turkish scrap imports fell further in August, by 19.7% on-year to 1.61 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. Over 98%, or 1.59mt, of the August imports were obsolete scrap. The average price of this scrap was $396/tonne versus $493/t in August 2021 and $463/t in July.
