Turkish scrap imports almost halve in January
Turkish scrap imports continued their downward trend into the new year, almost halving on-year to 1.364 million tonnes in January, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. They were, however, up from 1.269mt in December 2022.
Over 99%, or 1.35mt, of the January imports were obsolete scrap. The average price of this scrap was $373/tonne, down from $395/t in January 2022 but up from $366/t in December 2022.
