Turkish scrap quotes exceed $500/t, rebar skyrockets
Turkish mills are convinced the next round of scrap purchases will occur at above $500/tonne cfr Turkey, following the latest HMS 1&2 80:20 bookings at $495/t cfr from the Baltic.
Although imported scrap offer prices have already increased above $500/t cfr Turkey, no booking has been heard at this level. Turkish mills are seen focusing on rebar markets and testing higher rebar prices before buying scrap at these levels.
