Turkey’s May rod exports fall despite Covid-19 base
Following their surge in April, Turkish wire rod exports fell by 24.5% on-year in May to 78,595 tonnes. This can be considered a drastic fall as it came from a low, Covid-19-impacted base. Exports also almost halved from the 139,779t shipped in April, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish.
Their average price, however, rose to $693/tonne from $436/t in May 2020 and $686/t in April.
