Turkish rebar quotes increase on costlier scrap
Turkish mills have increased rebar export quotes, despite no demand improvement, after scrap prices rose this week. There has also been some talk of improved demand in Turkey’s domestic rebar market, although not all market participants agreed.
The latest scrap deal, from the US, was for 32,000 tonnes of HMS 1&2 80:20 at $322/tonne cfr Turkey, 5,000t shredded at $327/t and 3,000t bonus at $332/t for March shipment (see separate article).
