Turkish rebar producers face slower demand, mounting risk
Turkish rebar producers are facing even slower demand in both domestic and global markets. While struggling to sell at current offer levels, their production costs keep on rising due to higher scrap prices.
Rebar export quotes, which stood at $620-630/tonne fob Turkey in the week ending 18 December, were pegged mostly at $650-660/t fob actual weight over Christmas. The increase in prices, however, is the result of higher scrap costs rather than lively rebar demand…
