Turkish producers reiterate need for protectionist measures
The Turkish Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD) anticipates Turkish crude steel production to exceed 38 million tonnes in 2020 if the ascending trend that began last June continues.
Turkish steel producers, however, reiterate the need for protectionist measures to curb steel imports. This is in order to improve the trade balance, which fell to 85.9 tonnes of exports for every 100t of imports in January, and to ensure domestic consumption is met locally.
