Turkish pipemakers call for HRC import duty suspension
Turkish steel pipe producers are bemoaning being unable to source hot rolled coil at international prices. They have called on the Turkish government to suspend import duties for HRC until the supply-demand balance is restored.
The production capacity of Turkey’s steel pipe industry is approximately 8 million tonnes/year, but total production is over 4.5m t/y, Kallanish notes.
