Turkish mills’ silence increases pressure on scrap prices
Turkish mills are still halting scrap purchases amid bearish sentiment in the global scrap market and weak steel sales.
Following the single deep-sea booking at $439/tonne cfr on Tuesday last week, the market stayed silent and no bookings were heard.
Some mills concluded short-sea scrap bookings and managed to decrease prices to $400/t cfr at the end of last week, from $410/t cfr earlier in the week. They are now bidding at below $400/t cfr.
