Costlier scrap squeezes Turkish mills’ margins further
Turkish steelmakers have been forced to pay higher prices for scrap to secure their urgent needs for February-shipment cargoes, despite suffering from costlier energy since the beginning of the year.
Scrap prices have increased following Turkish mills’ resumption of scrap purchases last week. Although initial bookings occurred at lower prices on-week, scrap suppliers have increased their offers along with the increase in demand.
