Turkish mills fail to find affordable scrap
Turkish steel producers, which are struggling to sell steel these days, are seen to have failed to decrease imported scrap prices to desired levels.
Although they were targeting to buy premium HMS 1&2 80:20 below $380/tonne cfr, they failed to achieve even $380-385/t cr levels and have been forced to pay higher.
A western bought US-origin HMS 1&2 80:20 at $388/t and shredded at $408/t cfr for first half of January shipment.
