Turkish market expects scrap surge to flatten
Scrap prices continued their rise on Friday on fresh bookings. Most market participants, however, think those rises are coming to an end and the market will calm down this week.
On Thursday, a US-origin scrap supplier sold HMS 1&2 80:20 at $489.5/tonne and shredded and bonus at $509.5/t cfr Turkey. An EU-origin supplier, meanwhile, has sold 21,000 tonnes of HMS 1&2 80:20 at $487/t and 4,000t of shredded at $507/t cfr.
