Turkish foundries urge steelmakers to supply pig iron
Turkish foundries have called on domestic steelmakers to resume producing merchant pig iron after their procurement of hot metal from Ukraine was impeded by the outbreak of war there, Kallanish notes.
The bombing of Ukrainian pig iron producer Azovstal by Russia’s military has created a supply bottleneck in the Turkish metal casting industry. Pig iron prices have consequently increased by 30% in only two weeks.
