Turkish construction contractors call for steel export curbs
Turkish construction contractors suffering from high steel prices are calling for the restriction of steel exports to protect the domestic market, Kallanish notes.
“Steel prices have increased by 100% in the last year,” says Construction Contractors Confederation (IMKON) president Tahir Tellioglu. “Rebar price per tonne has increased from TRY 3,250 to above TRY 7,000. Some measures should be taken to protect the sector.”
