Turkish billet imports rebound, Russian-origin dominance fades
Turkish billet imports under HS code 720711 bounced back in July after falling on-year in June. They surged 70% on-year in July to 270,883 tonnes, and were also slightly up on June, Kallanish notes from Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
Although Russia remained the largest supplier, the tonnage of 104,902t was down 24%, bucking the overall trend, and represented well below half of overall imports.
