Turkish billet imports plunge further in May
The decrease in Turkish billet imports continued in May as intake from the CIS dropped along with the slump in China-origin shipments, Kallanish notes from the latest Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
May's billet imports stood at 191,325 tonnes, down -58.6% on-year and -17.6% over April. The overall average value/tonne of these imports increased to $435/t from $332/t a year earlier.
