Turkey’s scrap imports fall in June, first half
Following their May recovery, Turkish scrap imports decreased again in June, falling by 21.8% on-year to 1.59 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish.
Over 99%, or 1.58mt, of the June imports were obsolete scrap. The average price of this scrap was $575/tonne versus $446/t in June 2021 and $616/t in May. The US was the largest supplier with 357,801 tonnes, up 29.2% on-year. The UK more than doubled its tonnage …
