Turkey’s scrap imports collapse on halved capacity utilisation
Turkish scrap imports continued their downward trend in November, collapsing by 36.4% on-year to 1.333 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. They were also down from 1.44mt in October.
Over 99%, or 1.32mt, of the November imports were obsolete scrap. The average price of this scrap was $371/tonne, down from $451.5/t in November 2021 and $388/t in October.
