Turkey’s scrap imports almost halve in July
Following the June fall, Turkish scrap imports slumped further in July, falling by 42.7% on-year to 1.37 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish.
Over 96%, or 1.36mt, of the July imports were obsolete scrap. The average price of this scrap was $463/tonne versus $476/t in July 2021 and $575/t in June.
