Turkey’s Kaptan orders new wire rod mill
Turkish electric arc furnace steelmaker Kaptan Demir Çelik has contracted Primetals to install a new wire rod mill at its Marmara Ereğlisi site.
The new mill will expand Kaptan’s portfolio to include coiled rebar, fine grain rebar with low alloy costs, welding wire, austenitic stainless steel and cold heading grades to serve domestic and export markets, Primetals says.
Commissioning of the new mill is expected in mid-2022, Kallanish notes.
