Turkey’s January steel imports rise 31% on-year

Turkish steel imports grew 31.4% year-on-year to 1.49 million tonnes in January but their total value decreased -4.5% to $851 million, the Turkish Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD) says. The surge in semis imports, observed in 2015 due to high scrap prices, continued in January, the association notes in a statement seen by Kallanish.
