Turkey’s January scrap imports decrease, billet intake rises
Turkish scrap imports declined -17.2% year-on-year to 1.14 million tonnes in January, while billet imports climbed up. The average scrap import price went down by $121/tonne to $197/t cfr Turkey, Kallanish calculates from the latest Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
The fall in scrap imports comes after a growth by 34.9% y-o-y in the previous month to 1.74mt with an average value of $193/t.
