Turkey's February scrap imports drop 20% on-year
Turkish scrap imports decreased by -19.9% year-on-year to 1.16 million tonnes in February, mainly affected by the slump in intake from Ukraine. The average value/tonne of Turkey's scrap imports that month went down to $195/t from $316/t a year ago, Kallanish calculates from the latest Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
The scrap-rebar spread narrowed to $131/t in February from $163/t a year earlier, keeping pressure on Turkish mills’ margins.
