Turkey’s December and 2022 scrap imports fall remarkably
Turkish scrap imports continued their downward trend in December, halving on-year to 1.269 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. They were also down from 1.33mt in November.
Over 99%, or 1.265mt, of the December imports were obsolete scrap. The average price of this scrap was $366/tonne, down from $479.5/t in December 2021 and $371/t in November.
