Turkish billet trade deficit widens to seven-year high
The competitiveness of Turkey in export markets is being affected by high energy costs and the country’s financial constraints, with the impact particularly noticeable in the billet segment.
Turkey has significantly reduced its billet exports to negligible volumes and, in order to cut production costs, mills have increased billet sourcing from abroad, Kallanish notes from Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
