Turkey’s Ayyıldız Çelik to invest in EAF
A long steel supplier in southern Turkey is investing in an electric arc furnace melt shop to produce billet.
The project, valued at TRY 455 million ($27.2m), will see Ayyıldız produce 192,000 tonnes/year of billet. Following the installation of the equipment in August, the company expects to start test production in the first half of next year.
The company recently received environmental assessment approval for its EAF investment, Kallanish notes.
