Turkey's August scrap imports soar, billet intake drops
Turkey's scrap imports grew 26.7% year-on-year to 1.3 million tonnes in August, driven by a surge in intake from the Netherlands and Russia. Concurrently, billet imports decreased, Kallanish notes from the latest Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
The total average value/tonne of August's scrap imports declined to $228/t from $261/t a year earlier, calculations from TUIK data show.
