Turkey's August scrap imports rise on EU-origin supplies
Turkey's scrap import volume increased on-year in August as higher imports from European countries offset the decline in procurement from the US, Kallanish notes from the latest Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
Scrap imports totalled 1.57 million tonnes in August, up 20.7% on-year, but down -22.3% on-month. This follows an 89.9% y-o-y jump in scrap intake in July as US-origin imports surged.
