Turkey's April scrap imports rise on Russia surge
Turkish scrap imports increased 18% year-on-year to 1.38 million tonnes in April following a 40% growth in March. The total average value of the April imports decreased to $193/t from $258/t a year earlier, Kallanish calculates from the latest Turkish Statistical Institue (TUIK) data.
The scrap-rebar spread in April narrowed to $177/t from $182/t a year ago, and widened from $131/t in March, but still kept pressure on Turkish mills' margins.
