Turkish consumption, exports surge; imports remain problem: TCUD
Both Turkish domestic steel consumption and exports surged in 2021, making it a successful year for the country’s steel industry, says the Turkish Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD).
Crude steel production meanwhile grew 13% to an annual record of 40.4 million tonnes (see Kallanish passim).
Finished steel consumption increased 4.3% on-year to 2.5mt in December 2021 and by 13.2% in 2021 versus 2020 to 33.4mt.
