Turkey imports mammoth scrap tonnage in December
Turkish scrap imports recorded another rise in December, by 14.2% on-year to 2.33 million tonnes. They were also up from 1.92mt and 2.06mt in October and November respectively, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish.
Almost 95%, or 2.2mt, of the December imports were obsolete scrap. The Netherlands was the main supplier at 395,195t, up 60.5% on-year. The US followed with 379,508t, down -21%. Russia delivered 193,818t, up 28.5…
