Turkey imports another mammoth scrap tonnage in March
Turkish scrap imports continued their rise in March, by 24.1% on-year to 2.23 million tonnes. They also increased from February imports of 2.07mt, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish.
Over 95%, or 2.16mt, of the March imports were obsolete scrap. The Netherlands was the main supplier at 341,435 tonnes, up 28.2% on-year. The UK followed with 309,860t, up 14.3%. The US however supplied 223,160t, down 21%. Despite its increas…
