Total US imports of steel rise in August
Total US steel imports appear to have risen from July to August, though the share of finished imports slipped, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing data from the US Department of Commerce, the institute puts total August import applications at 3.572 million short tons, 2.646m st of which was finished. That is up 2.9% and down -7.7%, respectively, from July’s preliminary tallies.
