German union plans token strikes after failed negotiations
The second round of steel industry wage talks in western and northern German states ended after only one hour on Monday without settlement, Kallanish hears.
While the demands of the union IG Metall were made public at an early stage, the employers have only now come up with a counter proposal. The union is seeking a 4.5% increase, while employers’ organization Arbeitgeberverband Stahl, chaired by thyssenkrupp Steel ceo Andreas Goss, proposed 1.3%.
