Tokai Carbon reorganises graphite electrode business
Japanese graphite electrode producer Tokai Carbon has announced plans to structurally reform its graphite electrode business, reducing its production capacity from the current 56,000 tonnes/year to 32,000 t/y by July 2025.
This decision comes in response to decreased demand due to reduced output in the steel industry and a decline in competitiveness caused by an influx of low-priced products from China and India, Kallanish learns from the company.
