Tharisa raises chrome output, says prices on downtrend
Cyprus-headquartered Tharisa produced 334,000 tonnes of chrome concentrate in the third fiscal quarter through June, up 8.2% on-quarter but down -11% on-year. The average cif China contract price of metallurgical grade chrome concentrate rose 7.4% on-quarter to $174/tonne, but this was down -10% on-year.
Metallurgical grade chrome accounted for 259,000t of output in the quarter, up 11.5% on-quarter but down -8% on-year, Kallanish notes.
