Ternium to upgrade Brazil blast furnace
Latin American steel producer Ternium is mulling a major investment in one of the two blast furnaces at its Rio de Janeiro plant, Kallanish learns from Brazilian media reports. The project includes the refurbishment of thermal insulation and upgrade of auxiliary technology.
The assessment of the project is already advanced, since the equipment's life-cycle ends in 2024. The investment is reported at BRL 1.3 billion ($269 million).
