TCUD: Domestic mills must meet consumption growth
Turkish steel imports are continuing, despite tariff hikes, due to intake from countries with a free trade agreement, especially the EU, says Turkish Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD) general secretary Veysel Yayan. Imports are also coming in under the inward processing regime.
Following the -26.2% on-year decline in April, Turkey's crude steel production decreased by -25.9% on-year in May to 2.3 million tonnes, according to TCUD.
