Tanzania starts Chinese-invested mining and ironmaking project
Tanzania's industry, trade and investment minister Charles Mwijage says construction of a Chinese-invested 1 million tonnes/year ironmaking plant and 600 megawatts power plant will kick off this year, according to media reports.
The two plants are part of the Mchuchuma coal and Liganga iron ore mining projects in the Mbeya region which will see an estimated TZS 5 trillion ($22.85 billion) in investment, Kallanish notes.
